Recently, we just saw Giannis Antetokounmpo make two ridiculous blocks in the 2021 NBA Finals: The first one on Mikal Bridges in Game 1 that looked similar to LeBron's chasedown block on Andre Iguodala in Game 7 of the 2016 Finals, and the second one on Deandre Ayton's lob attempt.
Now that people are talking about the latter block, where does it land in the top playoff blocks in NBA Playoffs history? And where does it rank in NBA Finals history?
My take is that Giannis's block is, at the highest, the 2nd-best block in NBA Finals history. While Giannis's block is more impressive skill-wise, LeBron's block on Iguodala was the more critical block. Other blocks that I can bring up here are LeBron's block on Tiago Splitter in Game 2 of the 2013 NBA Finals and Hakeem Olajuwon's block on John Starks in the final seconds of Game 6 of the 1995 Finals.
